Psalm 123 (Listen)
123:1 To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he has mercy upon us.
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of contempt.
4 Our soul has had more than enough
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the proud.
Devotional:
I lift my eyes to you, the one enthroned in heaven. (Psalm 123:1)
I praise and thank God because He tells me where to find him. Where is God? This is one of many Psalms that tells us to look up. God is on His throne in the heavens, but He does not hide from us. He wants to be found, and He wants to be known. This is so important that He helps us with the finding and the knowing. Another reason He tells us where to find Him is because He does not want us to look in the wrong place. When we look in the wrong place, we may find the wrong god. Look for God in His holy Word. Then, look up while you praise Him.
Pray It: Father, help me to look up to you and remember that you are so much greater than any trial or obstacle I might face. Thank you for always having your eyes on me; help me to always keep my eyes focused upon you. Amen.
