Psalm 112 (Listen)

112:1   Praise the LORD!
  Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
    who greatly delights in his commandments!
  His offspring will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
  Wealth and riches are in his house,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
  Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
    he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
  It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
    who conducts his affairs with justice.
  For the righteous will never be moved;
    he will be remembered forever.
  He is not afraid of bad news;
    his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.
  His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
    until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
  He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever;
    his horn is exalted in honor.
10   The wicked man sees it and is angry;
    he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
    the desire of the wicked will perish!

Devotional:

Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light shines in the darkness for the upright. He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous. Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly. (Psalm 112:3-5)

I praise and thank the Lord because His righteousness is eternal. What a wonderful promise God has given to those who follow His commands! This list of blessings is one that most people want for themselves and those they love. When the people of God are blessed with wealth, they are responsible to use it to bless others, not just family and friends. Helping people who need assistance, encouraging fairness, and positively influencing the community can be wonderful expressions of God’s love for the world. God gives us blessings to enjoy and to share. Generosity helps everyone.

Pray It: Father, I praise you for you are a generous God, seen above all in the fact that Jesus has given his life for us. Help me to be generous with the riches of time, talent and treasure that you have given me to bless others and reflect your generosity and grace. Amen.
