Psalm 110 (Listen)
110:1 The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”
2 The LORD sends forth from Zion
your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!
3 Your people will offer themselves freely
on the day of your power,
in holy garments;
from the womb of the morning,
the dew of your youth will be yours.
4 The LORD has sworn
and will not change his mind,
“You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgment among the nations,
filling them with corpses;
he will shatter chiefs
over the wide earth.
7 He will drink from the brook by the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.
Devotional:
This is the declaration of the Lord to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.” (Psalm 110:1)
I praise and thank the Lord because He has sworn an oath to protect. Are you weary from fighting your own battles? Who are your enemies? Listen! God is telling you to rest. Step aside and trust God to take care of the situation. Sin is the greatest enemy that we face, and it is the root of all our struggles. Although they are temporary, our struggles are very real and often perplex us. Christ is our deliverer – not only for eternity, but also for everyday events. He beckons us to step back with humility and allow Him to take care of our enemies. Imagine our society if Christians did that more often.
Pray It: Jesus, I praise you as the one who sits on your heavenly throne right now and promises to turn. Help me to remember and reflect on your reign even now as I also pray for your kingdom to come and your return to come soon. Amen.
