Isaiah 12 (Listen)
12:1 You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O LORD,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 “Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the LORD,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
5 “Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
6 Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
Devotional:
“Indeed, God is my salvation; I will trust him and not be afraid, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2)
In Isaiah 11, God promises to rescue His people. Isaiah 12 celebrates that promise – and reminds us today that God has rescued us! We face challenging times in our lives, but God gives us strength in those times. God is also our song, so we can sing to the Lord with praise, prayer and lament. And then God is our salvation. Through Jesus, God rescues us from sin and restores us to a right relationship with Him. Whatever you are facing today, take time to thank God that He is your strength, your song and your salvation.
Pray It: Father, thank you for being my strength, song and salvation. Help me to remember those truths and trust you rather than be afraid of whatever may come my way this day and in this world. Amen.
